In a huge coup for the CQ University Cyclones, Power Forward Samantha Bowman has committed to the club for the 2024 Mitsubishi NBL1 season. Bowman had a stellar first season in the NBL1 North averaging 21 points, 16 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, and was and NBL1 MVP finalist and a member of the NBL1 All Star 5. Sam was well sought after following her first season and we couldn’t be more excited that she has decided to return to Rockhampton for the 2024 season.
Head Coach Drew Fenton said of Sam’s signing, “We are very excited to have Sam return for 2024! We all saw in 2023 what Sam can offer; she is a true competitor who hates losing anything. A supreme athlete who can run all day and impact games at both ends of the floor. Keeping in touch over the off season has just proven why she was so sought after around all the NBL1 leagues, working out every day endeavoring to return a better player. The Rocky fans fell in love with Sam, and I am sure they can’t wait to see her back on the floor at Bravus Arena."
Sam is also looking forward to returning and said, “It is such a pleasure to be a part of this club again! I want to thank Drew and Wade for this opportunity to play overseas for another year. I am so excited to have the squad back together again! Go cyclones!”
Bowman will arrive in Rockhampton in late March in preparation for the 2024 season.
