Rockets Sign McCullough for 2023 Season

The Schwarz Excavations Rockhampton Rockets have continued to strengthen their roster for the Coles Express 2023 NBL1 North season by combo guard Nikau McCullough.

McCullough has most recently played for the Otago Nuggets in the NZNBL in which he averaged 15.1 points per game. Nikau also played for the New Zeland Tall Blacks in two world cup qualifiers last year.

Coach Tweedy said, “We are super excited about securing Nikau for the 2023 season. We are getting a quality guard that has played at the international level and has proved himself in the New Zealand NBL competition. In signing Nikau, we believe we have a backcourt as good as any team in the league with Jarvis Summers at the point guard position.”

Nikau said on signing, “I am excited for the opportunity to play for the club and also coach Tweedy. I am looking forward to arriving in Rockhampton and the season ahead. I am keen to see what we can do as a group this season.”

McCullough will arrive in early March in preparation for the team’s opening round clash against the Mackay Meteors in Mackay on March 24.
