ROCKHAMPTON LOCKS IN COACHES FOR 2024

Rockhampton Basketball are pleased to announce that they have locked in their coaching staff for the Mitsubishi 2024 NBL1 North season.

After a full review by management and the board, both Drew Fenton and Neal Tweedy have retained their positions as Head Coaches for the CQ University Cyclones and the Schwarz Excavations Rockets.

Fenton will be supported by Chris Muggeridge, with Darren Richardson assisting Neal Tweedy for the Rockets. Team Managers will again be Shavarn Janes and Stuart Reoch in 2024.

Fenton, who was named the NBL 1 North coach of the year in 2023, is looking forward to another successful year with the group and will be striving to go one better in 2024 after being defeated in the grand final this season. The focus in the off season has been to try and keep our core group of players together for the 2024 season, to continue to build on the wonderful year they had during the 2023 season, Fenton said. “I am looking forward to working with the girls again can’t wait to get started.”

Neal Tweedy and the Rockets on the other hand are looking to improve on what can be described as a disappointing, and disruptive season with a number of player movements throughout the year causing disruption in the group and making it hard for the team to gain any momentum throughout the season. Winning the last three home games showed what the team was capable of and 2024 needs to be a much more successful year for the Rockets. The program is busy recruiting players for the upcoming season and player signings will be announced soon.
