SHEIDA TO JOIN THE ROCKETS FOR 2024 SEASON

The Schwarz Excavations Rockhampton Rockets have signed Thomas Sheida for the 2024 Mitsubishi NBL1 North season.  Thomas has spent the last 5 years in the US at NC Upstate College playing in the NCAA having been captain for 2 seasons and is a great addition to the Rockets roster for 2024.

The 6 ft 2 guard will come into the NBL1 for the first time, and we are looking forward to adding to the teams backcourt depth.  Thomas is familiar with Central Qld playing junior basketball in Bundaberg and representing his State at Under 16’s and18’s winning a National Championship at the Under 16’s level and was also a part of the National Performance Program.

Coach Neal Tweedy said of Thomas, “Thomas is another piece to our back court that will fit seamlessly into the Rockhampton Rockets culture. We are always looking for Central Queensland kids who can return to the area and play at the NBL1 level. With Rockhampton being the only team left in Central Qld, Thomas has made the choice to play for us over several other teams. He was an elite junior before he went to the United States to follow his college dream and although still young, he brings back leadership and experience from his time overseas. Our 3-point shooting has been identified as a skill we need to be better at after last season and we feel Thomas will be able to come into the team and help us fix straight away.”

Thomas is super excited about joining the Rockets and said, “I could not be more excited to join the Rockhampton Rockets for the 2024 NBL1 season.  I cannot wait to make an impact on and off the court, in the community and be a role model and a light for the youth of Rockhampton.  This is a blessing from God that I could not be more thankful for.”
