TWEEDY RETURNS HOME TO ROCKETS

The Schwarz Excavations Rockhampton Rockets are proud to announce that local product Ben Tweedy is returning home and has committed to the Rockets for the 2024 NBL1 season.  Tweedy has spent the last 3 years on the Gold Coast finishing his schooling at The Southport School and has just competed at the Under 20 National championships in Ballarat, where he was an integral part of the Queensland Under 20 Men’s team that claimed a silver medal.

Coach Neal Tweedy knows Ben’s game pretty well and said, “To have Ben returning to the Rockets is exciting for our fans. Having achieved remarkable success in junior basketball, he now stands ready to lead his hometown club at the senior level. Despite his youth, Ben brings with him invaluable experience from competing in national tournaments and learning under the guidance of NBL1 Coach of the Year, Anthony Petrie, during his time at The Southport School. His work ethic is second to none and his basketball IQ is going to be important when leading us on the floor.”

Ben is looking forward to the season ahead, “It’s definitely exciting,I can’t wait to be able to come back home and play in front of the best crowd in the country, it’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid being around the program. This year is a great opportunity for the club to have success and with the strong team being built right now, I know it’s going to be fun and I’m just ready to start competing.”
